How to Install Metatrader 4 |
MT4 Indicators
There are thousands of mt4 indicators for the metatrader 4 platform. Most of the common ones are already
included in the metatrader software. There are three ways to install mt4 indicators on your chart.
 On the top menu, click 'Insert', then Indicators. Choose the indicator
you want by choosing the category they're in: Trend, Oscillators, Volumes, Bills Williams, or Custom. If you
install additional mt4 indicators not already included in the meta trader platform package, they will appear
in the Custom category. See below on instructions on
how to install custom indicators.
 You can also use the short-cut indicator  button . It will also give a list of the latest indicators you
have used before on the top portion of the menu window.
 The third method is through the navigator menu on the left of the
chart. Double-click on 'Indicators', and you will get a list of all the available indicators on the
mt4 platform. Double-click on an indicator, and you will get a window with the indicator's preset values.
Change any of the default values if you want to, then click 'ok'. Another method is to click on
the indicator you want and drag it to the main chart. To see a list of custom indicators, just
double-click on 'Custom Indicators'.
There is another usefulness to the navigator menu method. If you want two or more mt4
indicators to appear in the same window, drag the additional indicator(s) from the navigator menu into the same
window you want it to appear. On the chart below, MACD and RSI are placed in the same window.
How to install custom mt4 indicators?
Indicators for metatrader 4 comes in the extension .mq4. For example: rsi.mq4.
Once you have installed metatrader from your broker's website, look for your broker's folder on your computer.
Usually, it's in the C:\Program Files\XXX\, where XXX is the name of your broker, unless you've changed the
location during installation.
Double-click on the folder XXX, and you get a list of folders. Double-click on the folder
'experts', then on the folder 'indicators'. This folder is where you will insert your custom indicators in.
Download, then copy and paste into this folder. The directory where you will include all your custom
indicators, thus:
C:\Program Files\XXX\Experts\Indicators\
If you insert the mt4 indicators while metatrader is still open, you will not be able to see the
new indicators. Close metatrader and re-open.
